Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

So I know I said I would blog bout my trip at Disney world, 

But I've been so busy ever since I got back that I haven't had the time yet!

:(

Anyhow,

In light of the new year, lets recap on wonderful 2011!

• Finished 1st year at Uni fairly well :D
• Started second year :S
• Learned Sign Language, got to meet some deaf people and communicate with them! <3

my ASL class <3

• Started up my blog :D
• Turned 20!! 
• Put on a ton, loss a bit of the ton (new year resolution to lose weight??)
• Pierced my ear
• Got use to living on my own and being independent
• Got paid pretty decently and spent it all instantly (notice how I rhymed! :P )
• Lost a few loved ones T^T
• Got to meet up with some old friends

• Some of my prayers were answered <3 (thank You Lord!)
• Got to paint a house!

• Got my knees treated (burned a big hole in my pocket!)

• Went to Wonderland!

one of the few times I met up with Amir!

• Went to the Royal Ontario Museum

• Went to the Science Center

• Went to WALT DISNEY WORLD!!!!!

Stay tuned for the updates on my trip!!

• Last but not the least: I.....joined.... gymnastics... AGAIN! :O :O :O (Will be competing in Jan)

That's just but a few things that my tired brain can recall,

Obviously, so much more happened throughout 2011,

Some, I'd like to keep to myself,

Others probably not big enough a deal to really share.

Anyhow,

I wanna thank God for blessing me the way He has so far.

I've lived 2 decades now (can you believe it!! :O I can't!!)

And when I look back on these 2 decades - I always smile (ok, so maybe just certain events)

I've learned so much from the pain and gotten so much from the good.

Thank you wonderful friends and family who have filled my life with so much love!

Lets just pray that the next 2 decades and the rest of my life is just as freakin' or even more awesome! :P

Christmas Cheer

Hey y'all! 

CLASSES ARE FINALLY OVER!!!

Ah.... :) :) 

Sweet sweet joy.

Anyways, 

I've always wanted to decorate my house for Christmas!

The last time I did was well, when I was a kid and lived here.

Ever since I moved to Asia, 

We only decorated our house for Chinese New Year. 

And frankly, those decorations stay up throughout the year..

For example, my bday is in July and CNY is in Jan/Feb-ish,

But.. all our decos are still around.

It was a themed party......

you had to be there to understand.............

Anyways,

So my sis and I decided,

This year, we're going all out! :D

Lately we've been getting bored with our house layout too.

So we thought might as well rearrange our tiny lil apartment!

Which means, basically NOTHING changed.

So what happened was,
We had it all mapped out in our minds.
Our tiny lil apartment looked amazing!
And so we started moving EVERYTHING around.
And it all looked great!!
Problem, 
there was no where to put my sis' table!!
Apparently, when we first moved in we were smart.
We managed to fit and place everything JUST right. 
..Sigh..
So after long hours of brainstorming and failed attempts,
I settled for that.
T_T
We still have lots of Christmas decos to put up,
But we haven't yet cause we still have finals.
SIGH!
Anyhow,
One good troublesome thing got settled-
I AM GOING TO WALT DISNEY WORLD

Instead

I should be doing my essay, instead, I'm blogging.

I should be on diet, instead, I'm eating ice cream.

I should be livin' life, instead, I'm stuck studying.

I should be reading the Oresteia, instead, I read the Aenied. (T_T)

I should be getting straight A's, instead, I got something other than an A. (T_T)

I should be doing something more productive/ purposeful, instead, I'm wasting time.

I should be freezing, instead, I'm pretty warm.

I should be tidying up the house, instead, I'm just sitting in the mess.

I should be thankful for all that I have, 
I AM.

X Down, Y to Go!

There are a couple of things in life that I've always wanted to do.

Weird out of the ordinary things.

For example, I've ALWAYS wanted to go fishing. 

(well, I guess fishing isn't exactly out of the ordinary.. Just not something a regular girl my age would have on their top 10 things to do..)

Unfortunately, no one has ever taken me! 

T_T

Over the past couple of years I've gotten to do some of these odd things!

Like....

Live in a wooden house on stilts 

Wondering why I've wanted to do this?

Well, one day my family was driving by a bunch and my dad said my sis and I should experience living in one to realize how blessed we are. (I now know how much I REALLY am!)

And it got me thinking.. hey, it would actually be an amazing experience!

It was. 

Freaky though, cause there were tons of leeches.. But awesome for a one night thing.

1st leech bite ever! D:

I've also always wanted to go camping and sleep in the outdoors!

excuse the look.. we just woke up.. :P

We had tents out, but decided to sleep outside instead! 

What an experience!! 

Said and did some things I probably shouldn't of ;P

But it was cold and I was tired so.......

Anyways!

I've also always wanted to build and paint a house.

Not for myself, but for those charity kinda things.

And today! I got to paint!!

:D

Was so much fun! 

Went with my bible study group.

We painted a house that one of the pastors bought for the church members.

The house was a MESS! 

There were so many spider webs and spiders!! D:

I really wanted to use that spongy rolly thingy!

I have a weird fascination for squeegees and these kinda things! :S

Was so much FUN!

But I didn't think it through cause I was... too short..

D:

couldn't reach the top.. had to use a chair.. T_T

You probably can't tell, 

But I was as high up on toes as a gymnast can ever go.

Got paint all over me D:

I slipped and therefore...

I had such a great time!

Had snacks, listened to 90's songs, and just chatted away..

Would've loved it if my besties were with me!

But next time perhaps! :D

Could've Would've Should've

12 am as I did my last round of Facebook stalking before I went to bed.

I saw this...

Which basically knocked me outta my chair.

Instantly I looked into it.

And unfortunately it was true..

A teacher I once knew- was murdered in Egypt. 

T_T

It got me thinking..

How many things in life have we done that we regret or wished we did?

And which is worst, 

To say something and wish you hadn't.

Or

To say nothing and wished you had.

This one year away,

I've gone through 2 deaths.

Before this, no one close to me has ever left me.

Now, 2 are gone.

1 was my dear cousin.

Once upon time, we were so close. 

Playing, talking, doing everything together.

But then we grew up..and grew apart too. 

What was my last words to her? Probably bye.

Who would've thought that would be the last time.

It's all so surreal. Till this day. 

I remember my few conversations with Mr.Pelland.

He never taught me anything, but he was a good trekking buddy.

I remember asking him for help, but he said no.

"Do it yourself and you'll feel so much better."

He was right.

I climbed that mountain all on my own. 

All of this just reminds me of how fragile life is and how stupid I am for wasting my worrying on such futile things. 

So, if you had one wish..

Would you use it to change your past?

Your future?

Isn't it so cool that we lived through a millennium!! 

That means we'll live through 01-01-01, 02-02-02.....12-12-12!

I'm pretty sure there's a proper name for this.. you know, to have the same number for the day, month and year... I just don't know it.. :P

Well, I suppose I should be more interested in the date that somehow ends up as 1 2 3...

1-2-03: too late

12-3-00: too late 

1-2-30!!!

So in my mind, I thought I'd be dead by the time it was 2030 or very old,

But now that I've counted it.. no.... I won't be that old. 
(probably won't be blogging anymore.. but still...)

And at the speed time is flying now,

I don't think it'll be that long.

HOW DID IT BECOME NOVEMBER SO SOON??

Am I the only one wondering what happened to 2011??

I'm so much more polite now! I say thank you, excuse me, pardon, may I, etc

I use to, until I went to Asia and it seemed like it wasn't necessary to, then along the way I just stopped being so well mannered. :/

But now, I have once again become the well taught young lady I use to be.

However! I am now more of a potty mouth. D:

I was never one to swear (and still don't), but I tend to use substitute curse words now where people would usually curse.

I never really did. 

Ironic eh.. on one hand- so well mannered, on the other-I'm "cursing" north south east west

Overly Excitingly Boring

That's my current life situation.

Overly exciting in the sense that I have way too much going on,

But boring in the sense that my life is packed with boring things.

T^T

So, here's a sum up of things that are worthy of noting:

it was 1am.... can't blame me for lookin the way I do.. :(

Last week, 

There was 3 fire alarms.

3!!

3!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All at a wonderful time - midnight. -_-!

Some bum was happily making supper and then all crap broke loose.

I feel sorry for this 1 guy though- he came down in a towel.

And it's freezing now... 

On the plus side,

I now know some of my building mates.

So when I go to work,

I need to take 2 buses.

But on Sunday, the 1st doesn't run that early (7.45).

So I take a morning jog every Sunday to get to the 2nd bus stop.

However,

Today I was tired, so I decided not to jog and just walk.

But snoozed too long and took my own sweet time to get ready that,

I went from a planned jog, to deciding on a nice stroll, 

To actually doing a full out sprint!

:(

I killed another huge spider!!! :D :D 

And it didn't disappear on me like the last time! :D

What's with Canada and their spiders??? D:

 So this week was actually one of my happier weeks! :D :D 

Last Friday, I skyped with 2 of my besties!!

didn't get to talk to my coach though (the one at the bottom)

I haven't spoken to them in forever!! <3 <3

And! I spoke Chinese to them! HAHA!

I haven't spoken Chinese in FOREVER!

(Cuz they're the only people I speak Chinese to, so forever haven't spoken to them = forever haven't spoken Chinese........ if that wasn't clear...... :P)

Honestly, it was kinda awkward at first... but I got use to it in awhile. :P

Yesterday night I met up with some old buddies from way back home who also came to Canada!! :D

Scattered among different Uni's.

Girls all from whr I'm from                              Guys all from Iran

All the way from Ottawa! She came down to visit, thus the dinner!

Me= nominated valedictorian....Amir= actual valedictorian

It was so great catching up with them! :D 

Well, I actually only know the 2 that I have individual pics with.

But the rest were apparently in the same school as I though. 

We went to Boston Pizza!

Food was great! :) A lil pricey but HUGE portions!

Anyways,

We had a really awesome time! :D :D 

Reminded me of the days when I use to hang out with all my HS friends!

Ahhhh... Those were the golden years. C:

 10 years back, I had some pretty good ideas on where I'd like to be today.

I definitely thought I'd be back in Canada - checked!

Didn't actually think I'd be a gymnast though I really wanted to join! - so kinda checked?

Academically successful- More or less 

blotches are things I rather not be on the net! :P

Be on TV - kinda checked

back stage practicing! (didn't even get to see myself on TV! :(  )

Be at least 5'7'! - nope

Be smoking hot and drop dead gorgeous :P - nope

Be rich and famous - nope

Be on top of my readings  - nope 
Be in a steady relationship - nope

Been to majority of the world - nope (unless both ends & not the middle counts..)

So.... 

1 check, 1 more or less, 2 kindas, 6 nopes

But, looking back on all of these, 

I was a pretty superficial kid eh. (I blame the media :P )

Drop dead gorgeous? Rich & Famous?

Anyways,

My point is, life just never turns out the way we hope it will.

We all have ideas of where our lives are headed.
And in most cases, things just don't turn out the way we hope.
So, 
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
And 10 years ago today,
Did you see yourself where you are now?
I'm pretty glad with where I am. C:
(even though I'm no where near where I thought I'd be D: )

If you haven't read them,

So totally do!!!
It's because of his books that I took my Myth in Ancient Greece and Rome course! :P

 The story is about demigods (kids born of human and Greek god) and their lives as demigods;
Being toyed around by the gods and fighting their battles.
(ok, so that's a pretty bad summary, but I'm no Rick Riordan)
This new series introduces new characters, but are kids of Roman gods, 
Which is pretty much the same as Greek. Just different names.
Anyways, 
Read it and you'll see why I'm so obsessed! :D
In this new book, The son of Neptune (Percy!)
There's a new character- Frank
He's Canadian..AND CHINESE!
Heheheh! 
I feel so represented!! HAHA! :P
Anyhow,
Unlike the others, this book ended so calmly.
Usually, when each book ends,
Your heart is racing, mind is wandering, jaw is hanging. 
But this.. it was just so pleasant. 
Plenty of questions still unanswered, but it didn't end with a big "WHAT??"
Which worries me.
Probably means book 3 - The Mark of Athena
Is gonna be intense!
It's like the calm before the storm. :S
Well, that's another year of waiting..

Yesterday one of the girls pointed that out to me!

Lil girl: *giggle* holy moly! *giggle*

Me: Oops..... Don't say that....

It's not that "holy moly" is that bad a word,

But I just don't think her parents would appreciate her saying that. :/

So, note to self, Shut up.

But don't tell students to!

There was this 1 girl!

I almost told her to shut it multiple times, but I didn't.....

A lil thrill among my students is to guess how old I am.

Usually they think I'm in high school.

However, today one of them thought I was in JUNIOR high!

HAHA! 

She thought I was only in grade 8 (that's 13 years old)!! O.O

-no wonder I still get carded- 

But some people think my sis is younger or the same age as me.

What does that say about her?? hehe!

I guess Asians just don't age! :D

It's worked to my advantage though,

Got away with a lot of things.

But gosh, really. 
I'm old enough to stay out at night.
